Homestay - Gino and Sue Spadfora
Gino and Sue Spadfora along with their two children, Daniella 2 and Skyler 11, moved from Toronto to Cape Breton, and suddenly found themselves living the lifestyle of a homestay family. Having purchased a retired bed and breakfast establishment, they had excess space and in a short time they had three International students, Rami, Khalid, and Amien, living with them.
Rami Alsaiari is one of eight children from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and after spending six months in Toronto he decided to head for Cape Breton in November 2010 and enroll in the ICEAP NS English Language Program based in CBU. He is now in Level 4 and is making steady improvement in his English studies. His eventual goal is to enter CBU University where he wants to pursue a degree in business. He loves the interaction with children in the Spadfora family and plans to stay with them for quite some time. To date Rami is the only member of his family to venture forth as an International Student.
Khaild is a 20 year old student from Ryadh, Saudi Arabia. After lots of hard work, Khalid studied English in Vancouver, BC, and then headed east to enroll in the ICEAP NS program. Within eight months he had successfully completed all the levels in the English program and passed his exit exams with flying colours. He enrolled in the Mechanical Engineering course at CBU and hopes to return to Saudi Arabia after he receives his degree from CBU. Khalid is also an excellent photographer, and he spends his off hours shooting many photos of interesting subjects here in Cape Breton.
